Members of Heart to Heart Quilts Lanark County volunteer their skills and generosity to create beautiful quilts
for people living with debilitating diseases and conditions. Over the past three years, we have become a family
of sorts, caring about one another and working together to make a positive difference in our community, living
On meeting days, members are always busy with one aspect or another of making a quilt. Some of us use the time at the church to choose and cut fabric, some do hand-sewing/quilting, others machine sew quilt tops together, a few use the mid-arm quilting machine to fuse the layers of a quilt, and all of us enjoy the time to visit with friends while we work.
Each meeting includes a 'show and tell' time so members can display their finished quilts for all to admire. A volunteer team of members examines all completed quilts in order to ensure high quality production. Regular meetings, usually held during the first meeting of each month, keep members informed and up-to-date on the business of the organization.
The coffee is usually ready early in the morning and, once in a while, someone will provide home-baked goods as a special treat for break time. Some members bring a lunch and enjoy a relaxed lunchtime with those remaining for part of the afternoon.
All interested are welcome to become members. Several current members had little or no sewing experience when they joined and are now accomplished quilters. We have numerous quilters who help to guide those who need assistance. No equipment is required to become a member ~ just a desire to want to help others. All necessary quilt-making materials and equipment are available for members to use while at the church. A small annual membership fee ($15) is payable each year and a Members' Handbook is provided for reference.
If you are interested in our organization and wish to become a member, please send an email to us at
including your name and contact information, or you are welcome to one of our Thursday meetings.
